The company has been operating in Ireland since 1981.

It’s reported staff at the Body Shop have been told stores will close by the end of the month.

According to the Journal, workers at the company have been sent an email saying Irish stores are closing.

They were advised a store might remain open for a short time for the purpose of selling off stock.

Journalist Eimer McAuley has been following the story.

“I’ve heard from staff across multiple stores and yeah, there has been email communication to staff that suggests that stores will be closing by the end of the month,” she said.

“I know that staff have been back in touch with the current owners who are contacting them to ask about formal termination notices of their employment and that they haven’t heard back on that yet,” she added.

Last week the UK company went into administration, in a bid to become more financially viable.

The Body Shop opened its first Irish store in Dublin in 1981 and currently operates seven stores in Ireland.
