The Donal’s Junior winter league returned in February at Gorey Tennis Club, with younger members competing at Under-10 and Over-10 age categories.

Coach Jamie Stafford oversaw events with assistance from Orla Murray.

Donal’s vouchers were also awarded for great effort to Nik Lohan and Lee O’Donnell.

The Donal’s winter league final will take place on Sunday, March 3, from 2-4 p.m.

Gorey Tennis Club would like to encourage all Junior players to participate in this event.

Ten and under results: 1, Dima Doloshkevich; 2, Sarah Devereux; 3, Ian Harrington.

Eleven and over results: 1, Dylan Devereux; 2, Fyodor Kovalchouk; 3, Veronika Doloshkevich.

With recent weather taking a turn, Senior play continued inside the clubhouse in the form of table-tennis.

The first night saw a mini cup competition where the last of the Christmas treats were up for grabs, with Stephen Storey taking the honours against runner-up Steven Giffney.

John Gorman secured the ‘plate’ after defeating Julian Breen. In total 20 players took part in the inaugural event, so it was inevitable a return event would go ahead.

On this occasion players were grouped. Keith Reid, Mary-Jo Andreucetti and Roz Henson came out on top of groups 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

Well done to everyone who took part.

Gorey Tennis Club will host a fundraising coffee morning on Saturday, February 24, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the clubhouse.

All proceeds are in aid of UNICEF, and everyone is welcome to come and support the event.
