Dublin Airport faced major delays this morning due to a power outage that hit Terminal 2. The outage caused significant disruptions, leading to long lines and slow check-in, security, and boarding processes.
The power outage, which affected over 30,000 properties in north Dublin, led to delays for 15 flights initially. However, the airport operator, DAA, said that most flight operations resumed normally after the initial disruption. The issue stemmed from a power failure in the north County Dublin area, which affected the airport’s backup generators, causing further delays, according to RTE.
Passengers took to social media to express frustration. One user tweeted, “What a mess, kilometre-long queue at Dublin Airport T2 this afternoon! Can something be done to manage this better? #TravelChaos #DublinAirport.”

Another concerned traveler questioned the airport’s preparedness, saying, “How does the airport not have backup electricity generators? This is so dangerous for everyone. Shame on you!”
