One of the most senior players in Ireland’s lucrative stolen car industry has been jailed after he admitted possessing €460,000 worth of stolen car parts in two illegal ‘chop shops’ raided by gardaí.
Career-criminal John Ayton (38), of Longwood, Co Meath, had a three-year sentence handed down to him by Judge John Martin at Trim Circuit Court yesterday, who described his criminal activities as “carefully pre-planned, pre-meditated and organised”.
