Golf travellers heading away on a golf trip have a great opportunity to cash in if Rory McIlroy wins the Masters this weekend.

Irish golf club rental firm Clubs to Hire is offering a full refund on bookings if the Northern Ireland man wins his first green jacket this weekend.

Tony Judge of Clubs to Hire said ” It’s very straightforward for the golfers, they simply book a set of clubs with us via the website www.clubstohire.com for the rental of a set of clubs in the future and if Rory wins this weekend we will send all clients a voucher for the value of their booking”.

Clubs to Hire could stand to refund a lot of golfers as the Irish firm takes a lot of bookings during what is historically known as the start of the golf season.

Judge said “We would normally get about six hundred bookings during Masters week but with the Masters offer that could rise to well over a thousand”.

On that basis the Irish firm could be on the hook for over €50,000 in refunds to clients.

McIlroy has registered seven top-10s in his previous fifteen Masters appearances, including a career-best 2nd to Scottie Scheffler in 2022 when he shot a final round of 64.

The four-time major winner is beginning his tenth attempt at completing the career grand slam and his wait for an elusive fifth major has entered its tenth year, despite ranking third in the best cumulative score to par in the major championships since 2020.

The Holywood man tees off today alongside world number one and heavy favourite Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele.
