Mount Street Lower is closed in both directions this morning due to a multi-agency operation which involves the dismantling of a tent city erected in central Dublin.

An operation to clear the makeshift camp housing roughly 200 asylum-seekers outside the international protection office on Mount Street got underway at 6.30am this morning.

The street is closed between junctions including Merrion Square East and Northumberland Road with diversions in place.

The closure of the street is causing slight delays on the Grand Canal.

Irish Rail have also reported that the 6.45 service from Drogheda to Pearse is operating with reduced capacity due to a mechanical issue.
