The Golf Lounge, 136 Park Ave., is a new indoor golf simulator in downtown Amherst.
A grand opening will take place Dec. 1 before Miracle on Main Street.
Simulators at The Golf Lounge will provide customers with a challenging and enjoyable experience for all ages, according to the owners.
“We’ve had kids as young as 4 in here, we’ve had high schoolers in here, anyone that has their own clubs basically is welcome to come in and play,” said Chelsea Subodka, co-owner of The Golf Lounge.
Subodka said the family-owned floral shop called Zilch had occupied the space.
But, she said it was her husband, John, an avid golfer, who ultimately decided to transform the space into The Golf Lounge.
“We were debating on what to do with the space, and he’s always wanted to do it, so it just seemed like perfect timing,” Subodka said.
The couple, along with Chelsea Subodka’s mother and stepfather, Dana and Greg Christian, opened the family-owned The Golf Lounge for business Nov. 16.
Similar to Topgolf, which has a facility in Independence, The Golf Lounge has two bays available for booking, as well as a bar for of-age guests to enjoy, according to Subodka.
“We also are a full-service bar … beer, wine and liquor,” she said.
The festivities at The Golf Lounge will start before Miracle on Main Street, according to Subodka.
“We’re doing a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30, and we have invited our contractors, members of (Amherst City) Council, Main Street Amherst, friends and family,” she said.
Due to the anticipated high traffic for Miracle on Main Street, Subodka said the ceremony will be an open-house style where guests are encouraged to see the space for themselves.
There will be refreshments and free material as well as a giveaway, she said.
“We’re going to have a drawing where you can win a free hour of golf,” Subodka said.
Since the business is fairly new, Subodka said one main goal of the event is to help familiarize the community with the family-friendly activity.
“Just to give an activity to do when it’s not so nice in Ohio — whether it be date night, or if you just need some time out to practice your game, or just to have fun — any way you want to use it, actually,” she said.
