The 200km walk left Sligo based duo exhausted having to make do with 12 hours sleep as they raised funds for Pieta

It took the duo over 85 hours to complete the journey which was undertaken for charity, Pieta House.

They have so far raised over €2,200 for the charity following the mammoth walk which took five days.

The gym’s manager, Jeanette Brandsborg and personal trainer Ben Donnolly survived on less than 12 hours sleep during that time.

The effort saw Jeanette dressed as a banana throughout the walk and Ben doing press-ups along the way for every €1 which was donated online.

Having set off on Sunday 15th September from Dublin, the duo battled significant aches and pains along the way before crossing the line on Wednesday at the Swagman in Sligo, greeted by a host of members and well-wishers.

The effort has saw them raise over €2,200 for Pieta House so far, which provides suicide and self-harm therapy services across Ireland.

“We couldn’t have done this without the amazing support from everyone online and those who joined us physically along the way,” said Jeanette.

“There were times we could barely stand up anymore and our bodies were giving up which made taking on food a real struggle, even though we desperately needed it.

“To everyone that supported us via donations, jumped on our live streams, laughed with us on the way and sent us text messages, you all kept us going!.

“€2,189 is what our amazing members, friends, family, strangers on the road and staff have donated so far to Pieta House which is incredible.”

Showing the gym’s supportive membership community, they were joined 15km outside of Sligo by members Marie-Claire and Nichola.

They were then accompanied on the final 12km stretch by Robbie, Laura and Petra.

Despite the difficulty of the challenge, Jeanette hasn’t ruled out going for it again.

“It costs about €1,000 to help one person for Pieta House and with the generous support from you guys, we can now help two people. A huge thank you to you all from all of us here at Snap Fitness, Sligo – let’s do it again next year!”
