Kerry goalkeeper Shane Ryan

Shane Ryan has been reinstated to the Kerry number one jersey as the Kingdom prepare to get their All-Ireland campaign underway against Monaghan on Saturday.

Ryan had been replaced by Dr Crokes man Shane Murphy for the Munster final clash with Clare but in an expected move, he has now been reinstated between the posts. Ryan was one of just four Kerry players to start every league game along with Gavin White, Joe O’Connor and Sean O’Shea.

The only other change in the side sees Dingle’s Paul Geaney replace Cillian Burke in attack, with the latter dropping to the bench. Geaney joins David Clifford and Sean O’Shea in a potent looking full forward line while the likes of veteran Stephen O’Brien and Adrian and Killian Spillane are held in reserve.

Kerry have never lost to Monaghan in championship football in seven meetings to date though they did need a late David Clifford goal to secure a draw in a ‘Super 8s’ clash in 2018.

Kerry (SFC v Monaghan): S Ryan; P Murphy, J Foley, T O’Sullivan; B O Beaglaoich, T Morley, G White; D O’Connor, J O’Connor; T Brosnan, P Clifford, D Moynihan; D Clifford, S O’Shea, P Geaney.
