It’s time once again for First Friday in Marietta, and the March theme is Shamrock and Roll. Downtown businesses will be open late with fun specials and events, and some will be hosting live music. While First Friday runs from 5-9 p.m., visitors will find musicians performing at various times throughout the evening.
At Over the Moon Pub and Pizza, David Huggins will be performing from 7-10 p.m., and the drink special is the Irish Breakfast for $5. For diners seeking Lenten fare, The Lafayette Hotel Gun Room will be serving Ohio Valley Fish & Chips along with their Corned Beef and Braised Cabbage. Pianist Wendy Clark will perform in the lobby from 6-9 p.m., and the Riverfront Bar &Grill will feature a Shamrock Martini. The Galley will offer several Lenten friendly specials, seafood specials, and a pair of mocktails – Strawberry Basil Limeade and Grapefruit Ginger Spritzer (both with the option of adding alcohol).
Visitors can enjoy free performances at several other locations, including energetic local band OYO at Just a Jar Design Press. Across the street, Jeremiah’s Coffee House will host the Warren Handbell group. At Wit & Whimzy, Justin Arthur will be performing from 7-8 p.m. and customers will receive a free gift with a $50 purchase.
Sugar Maple Boutique will be offering 15% off regular merchandise, and 30-60% off clearance items.
Their jewelry items will be Buy One, Get One Free. Threadz Boutique will have a “How Lucky Are You” discount drawing at check out. At American Flags and Poles, all Candles of the Month, both previous and current month, will be $17. The store will host Grace’s Treats with St. Patrick’s Day themed goodies, and the juke box will be blasting out fifties’ tunes. Andy’s Toychest on Putnam Street will host Monster’s Hordes and Hue Askew Tie Dye.
Downtown First Friday events are coordinated by Marietta Main Street and take place the first Friday of every month from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. January through December. Highlights of these events include shops open late, local artists and musicians, area organizations, and various happenings tied into the theme of the First Friday.
Each First Friday is a celebration of our local community and an opportunity for locals, tourists, and area groups to show their support for our town, have fun, and enjoy the beauty of vibrant, historic downtown Marietta!
