Their average margin per game is minus-34.4, which ranked 343rd of 348 Division I teams through Sunday. … Chicago State is shooting 32.2% from the field to 49.5% for its opponents, is minus-11.0 in rebounds per game and minus-7.0 in turnovers. … Sophomore 6-1 center Josie Hill erupted for 23 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks at FAU, each figure setting or matching a career high. On the season, she’s at 9.0 points, 7.4 boards and 2.8 blocks. … Senior guard Tae’lor Willard leads the Cougars in scoring on the season at 10.6 and has made 6-of-12 on 3-pointers. She’s followed by Hill, sophomore guard Jacia Cunningham (9.0) and senior point guard Ana Haklicka (5.2; 2.8 assists).
Irish freshman sensation Hannah Hidalgo continued to lead all Division I men and women in steals through Sunday at 6.8 per game. She’s also averaging 25.5 points, placing her in the women’s top 10 nationally, to go with 5.5 assists and 5.3 rebounds. … Maddy Westbeld’s at 15.8 points and 8.5 rebounds, KK Bransford 9.0 points and 4.5 rebounds, Anna DeWolfe 7.5 points and 3.5 assists, and Kylee Watson 7.5 points and 1.8 blocks. … Junior guard Sonia Citron (20.3 ppg) sat out Saturday’s 79-68 win over Illinois after suffering a knee sprain three days earlier against Northwestern. She’s expected to miss “a couple weeks,” per coach Niele Ivey. … Though rare overall, ND will face three opponents that are each from the same state for the second time in three seasons, the Chicago State contest following those against the Wildcats and Illini. The Irish met Duke, Wake Forest and North Carolina consecutively in January 2022. … ND’s facing Chicago State for just the third time. Each of the previous two meetings came in invitationals hosted by Northern Illinois, with the Irish winning 78-55 in January 1979 and 68-61 in January 1980. … ND’s averaging 42.3 rebounds to 32.8 for opponents. That includes 17.8 to 12.8 in offensive boards, with those grabs producing an 18.3 to 11.3 edge in second-chance points.
