Here are the boys and girls all-metro golf team for the 2023 season.
Briarcrest Christian, So.
Henry O’Keefe knew when he started this year’s Division II-AA boys golf state tournament that he was going to have a good tournament. He had all the confidence and it paid off with his 9-under 135 at the state tournament this season, good enough for a second-place finish.
O’Keefe, a sophomore at Briarcrest, entered the state tournament with a 36 average per nine holes during the season. He shot a 69 during the Division II-AA West Region tournament, tied for the lowest on the team, to help the Saints finish runner-up to Memphis University School.
Briarcrest, Fr.
O’Keefe had a standout freshman season at Briarcrest. He entered the TSSAA Division II-AA with a 35.86 average per nine holes. He placed tied for seventh in the state tournament at even par, shooting a 144.
Collierville, Sr.
Godinez wrapped up his senior year with a top-five finish at the TSSAA Class AA boys state tournament. He shot a 3-under 141, helping the Dragons finish third in the tournament. He entered the state tournament with a 35 average per nine holes this season.
Collierville, So.
Whaley tied for fourth in the TSSAA Class AA boys state golf tournament in October. Whaley entered the tournament with a 36 average for nine holes this past season with the Dragons. He helped the Dragons finish third in the state tournament with a score of 604.
Houston. Sr.
Olsen entered the TSSAA Class AA state golf tournament as one of the top players with the Houston boys golf program. He finished the tournament tied for 17th with a 4-over 148.
Memphis University School, Jr.
Solberg had a 35 average per nine holes entering the TSSAA Division II-AA state tournament. He finished the season with a 5-under 139 in the two rounds at the tournament to finish tied for third.
Houston, Sr.
When Sophie Christopher started out her golf career at Houston her freshman year, she didn’t quite know how it was going to pan out. Now, three years later, she’s a state champion and most recently tied for second in the Class AA girls golf state championship last month. Christopher, a Tennessee golf commit, shot a 4-over 144 to finish tied for second a year after winning the championship as a junior.
Throughout her career, aside from doing well in the state tournament, Christopher is a four-time region champion. Her career-best round was when she shot a 63 in the district tournament as a junior.
Evangelical Christian, Jr.
Todd placed fourth in the Division II-A state tournament, shooting 4-over 144 in two rounds. She had an even par average entering the state tournament and placed second in the region tournament.
ECS, 8th grader
Walker placed 12th in the Division II-A girls golf state tournament, shooting a 16-over 156. She entered the state tournament placing third in the region tournament, shooting a 77.
St. Agnes, Sr.
Denegri shot a 26-over 166 at the Division II-AA girls state golf tournament to place tied for 16th. Denegri entered the tournament, earning medalist at the Division II-AA west region tournament, shooting a 66.
St. Mary’s, Jr.
Barber shot a 21-over 161 in the TSSAA’s Division II-AA state tournament, finishing 13th. During the season, Barber averaged a 72 per nine holes. Her best finishes during the season include winning the Sandra Pitts tournament and placing second in the FCA tournament.
St. Benedict, Sr.
Hollingsworth placed tied for sixth in the Division II-AA girls golf state tournament in October. She shot a 6-over 146. She entered the tournament averaging a 37 per nine holes this season. This year’s tournament was her third state tournament appearance in four years.
