Gardaí in Sligo are investigating a serious incident involving two men in Sligo on Wednesday evening.

It is understood they were called to the scene of an incident where two individuals were involved in a fracas.

It is believed that one of the parties drove a vehicle at the other party pinning him against a wall.

The other party has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was also injured.

The N59 road was sealed off for a period on Wednesday evening as gardaí conducted a full investigation of the scene.

When contacted, Superintendent Barry Doyle confirmed that gardaí were investigating an alleged incident in Dromore West.
