Irish podcaster and comedian Blindboy Boatclub has confirmed his return to Vicar Street with two live shows.
According to Ticketmaster, the Blindboy Podcast will host the shows on January 22 and 23 in 2024, with tickets on sale now.
Blindboy rocketed to fame in 2010 as one half of the Irish comedy hip hop duo ‘The Rubberbandits’, who became known for their satirical songs and wearing plastic shopping bags over their heads to conceal their identities.
He recently released a series of short stories ‘Topographia Hibernica’ which, according to Blindboy, reached the number 1 spot in the Irish hardback fiction charts on November 15.
Commenting on X, Blindboy stated, “Thank you all for getting this book. It’s now Number 1 in the Irish hardback fiction charts. It’s in shops tomorrow in Scotland, Wales and England, also on audiobook. Dog Bless . I adored writing it and can’t wait to begin my next.”
Taking its title from a twelfth-century English manuscript of the same name, which reportedly dehumanised Irish people and Irish culture, ‘Topographia Hibernica’ is a collection that “unravels the knotted threads of humanity, nature and colonisation from a contemporary Irish perspective”.
Blindboy has also written the acclaimed ‘The Gospel According to Blindboy’ and ‘Boulevard Wren and Other Stories’.
Tickets for his 2024 live shows can be purchased for €33.00.
