Two Irish dancing World Champions who gained their crowns this April in Belgium have big links with county Longford. Lauren Murphy is world champion in the Under 15’s and alongside her is Isabella Cummins World champion in the Under 8’s.

These two young ladies did not know at the time they posed for this picture that both their dads hail from Abbeylara in Co Longford. Lauren’s dad is Eoin Murphy and Isabella’s dad is Paul Cummins and both attended St Bernard’s national school in Abbeylara.

Isabella lives in Australia and Lauren lives in Co Kildare. Both their grandparents, Tom and Joan Murphy, and Pauline Cummins reside in the parish of Abbeylara. Proud grandparent Pauline remarked, “We are so very proud of them both and their connection to Abbeylara.”
