Is your Pinterest board overflowing with interior inspiration? Well, we’ve got some good news. Ikea has announced the opening of a new ‘plan and order point’ – its fifth to date!
Those looking to furnish a new home or who are perhaps searching for a simple way to spruce up a room this spring will soon be able to browse the retailer’s collection in Fairgreen Shopping Centre in Co Carlow.
There are four other outlets of its kind scattered across the country – including one in Dublin’s St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre and another in Cork’s Douglas Village Shopping Centre.
Customers can book an appointment with one of Ikea’s expert planning specialists. Alternatively, those with a keen eye can use its self-service tools to design and visualise their ideal interiors.
Ikea has also confirmed plans for its new distribution centre, which will be based in Co Dublin, to open later this spring. The huge hub, which will employ around 120 people, is seeking to reduce delivery times for customers from its current seven to ten days, to an impressive two to three days.
In the midst of Ikea’s exciting Ireland-based expansion, Jesper Brodin, CEO of Ingka Group which controls most of the chain’s stores worldwide, visited its Ballymun-based store.
He said: ‘It’s exciting to be here in Dublin and to see first hand the success the Irish team have built. People in Ireland love their homes, and it’s a privilege for us to help create even better Irish homes with well-designed, sustainable, and affordable home furnishings.’
‘Ireland is a special market for us and even if we haven’t been present that long, we see a huge love for IKEA here. I think this comes down to Irish people’s sociable nature and desire to create homes where they can be together with family and friends.’
‘We’re excited and optimistic about the future,’ Mr Brodin continued. ‘Our main focus right now is to continue to lower our prices as well as expanding to more places, to make it even easier to shop with us.’
The new plan and order point in Carlow will open on February 23. Time to get planning those home improvements, ladies!
