Greg McGonigle has stepped down as Armagh ladies football manager

Greg McGonigle has stepped down after just one season in charge of the Armagh ladies football team.

Coaches Darnell Parkinson and Joe Feeney, both part of McGonigle’s backroom team, will now step into the breach as joint-managers.

Derry native McGonigle, who previously managed Dublin and Monaghan, led Armagh to a first ever league Division 1 title as well as an Ulster crown during his brief tenure.

The latter victory, against Donegal, came at a heavy price as attacking star Aimee Mackin suffered a season-ending cruciate injury.

Armagh initially responded well to that hammer blow, topping their All-Ireland SFC group and then beating Mayo in the quarter-finals, only to fall short against eventual champions Kerry at the last-four stage.
