Gardai and Defence Forces at the scene in Dublin

Gardai have lifted a cordoned off section of Dublin City Centre after a bomb scare last night.

A number of people had been evacuated from a premises on Bride Street Dublin 8 yesterday evening following the discovery of a suspicious device.

The Army EOD was called in as a cordon was established in the area.

However, a Garda spokesperson said an examination of the device “found it to be non-viable and not explosive”.

“It has been taken for further examination by An Garda Síochána,” the spokesperson said.

“The cordon has been lifted. No arrests have been made at this time.

“A technical examination of the scene is being carried out and investigations are ongoing.”
