Dublin’s best-kept secret: Uncover the hidden gems of Trinity College’s Zoological Museum

Hidden away at the back of the grounds of Trinity College is a strange and wonderful museum you have probably never heard of. The Trinity College Zoological Museum, one of Dublin’s best-kept secrets, holds some of the most interesting and unique specimens in all of Ireland. And you can even lay your hands on them. Unlike your typical gallery, where everything is either roped off or hidden behind glass, the Zoological Museum gives you the opportunity to hold history in your own two hands. Martyn Linnie, the curator of the museum for the last 20 years, says allowing guest to touch and feel the specimens allows for a “more intimate, more connected” environment. This is possible due to the museum’s small size.
