Louth have beaten Cork in Ardee twice in the past few years and should insist on Páirc Mhuire being used as their home for the forthcoming All-Ireland series.
Be it Roscommon or Meath that Louth face in their opening match of the All-Ireland series, the criteria for the venue selection ought to be where the Reds have the greatest chance of succeeding – and, clearly, that is Ardee.
Gate revenue, satisfying Croke Park or the visiting county, optics, prawn sandwiches or half-time lattes cannot come into this from a Louth perspective and though the ultimate decision over scheduling matters lies with the GAA’s CCCC, the strongest possible representation should come from officials in Darver.
